Hello people of the world! I am thrilled to announce that I will be taking part in “Musicking and Nonkilling for Peacebuilding Conference“, which will be held at Åbo Akademi University in Vaasa, Finland, from the 18th till the 20th of September, 2017.
The conference (Musicking and Nonkilling for peacebuilding) is organized by several groups and institutions, mainly by Åbo Akademi University and Center for Global Nonkilling. There will be a lot of interesting speakers, practitioners and researchers demonstrating not only the importance of musicking in peace-building, but also how to make sure that musicking is used for constructive purposes.
My participation in the conference will be to display a short illustrated story about Syria that sheds light on the real meaning of fear under the dictatorship of Bashar Al Assad (the president of Syria). The story is a real one that happened to a friend of mine at the beginning of the Syrian revolution. It explains, based on several psychological theories, how fear plays an important role in determining our behaviour.
If you happen to be in Finland or nearby, please come by, widen your perspective!
Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything. Plato
